WHAT MEASUREMENTS DO I NEED FOR A COAT?

Measure twice, cut one

The coats are available in five standard sizes:

XS – LONG LENGTH: 30-39cm

S – LONG LENGTH: 40-49cm

M – LONG LENGTH: 50-59cm

L – LONG LENGTH: 60-69cm

XL – LONG LENGTH: 70-80cm

The measure that determines the size of the coat is the length of the back, from the base of his/her neck (where it crosses with its clavicle and in front of his/her front legs) until just the point where his/her tail begins. Specifically, measure 4 of the image on the right.

Please take this measure to your dog, select the size of the coat and finish your order. Then take the 8 remaining measures following the instructions that you will find under the image and send them to orders@adora.barcelona indicating the number of the order you have made that you will find in the purchase confirmation email.

1

The total contour of his/her neck, this point fits with its front clavicles, that is, the point where his/her neck is born and the left end of its front legs.

2

Long from the base of his/her neck, it must be measured from the collarbone just by the left end of his/her front legs to the ears and matching point 1 or the neck base.

3

The total diameter (contour) of his/her neck, this time in the narrowest part (beginning of your head and of course above the ears), so that you pass the collar well.

4

Long back from his/her clavicle, where it coincides with point 1 (neck base) above its forelegs until just before the start of its tail.

5

The overall perimeter of dog’s chest, must be measured at widest point (just behind his/her front legs).

6

Waist perimeter: narrowest part of dog’s back, just before rear legs, and if the dog is male, before genitals.

7

Front External Chest Measurement, this measure must be taken from end to end between front legs (including both legs).

8

Front internal chest measurement: measure between front legs (not including the legs), just as shown in the picture below. easy, right?

9

Trunk length: from the end of dog’s front legs to the beginning of the back legs. Be careful not to reach the genitals if your dog is male.

WHAT SIZE COLLAR DO I NEED?

Measuring your dog’s neck is a snap!

For the collar to fit your dog perfectly, you must know the contour of your pet’s neck by measuring it with a tape measure*.

tape measure to measure your dog

Compare the measurement with the size guide table and choose the one that corresponds to your little one. If your dog’s neck measurement is close to the maximum size of a specific size, we recommend you to choose the next size, especially if your pet is not yet one year old.

*Example: When selecting the size of the collar, try to choose the size that is approximately halfway between the two measures (maximum and minimum) of the collar extension.

For a Greyhound with a neck contour of 39cm, we will select the Greyhound size which has an adjustable diameter between 29-45cm, as the 39cm is halfway between 29 and 45cm offered by the extension of the collar.

A bad selection would be, for example, for a dog with a neck contour of 58cm to take size XL (between 38-60cm) because it is very close to the maximum adjustable limit of the collar, which in this case would be 60cm. Therefore we should take the XXL size, which measures go from 41 to 70cm.

IN CASE OF A HARNESS, HOW DO I KNOW THE SIZE?

Measure your dog’s chest contour.

For the harness to fit your pet perfectly, you must know its total chest contour (perimeter) by measuring it with a tape measure at the widest part, just behind its front legs*

Compare the measurement with the size chart and choose the size that corresponds to your dog. If this measurement is close to the maximum size of a specific size, we recommend you to choose one size more, especially if your furry is not yet one year old.

*Example: When selecting the harness size, try to choose the size that is approximately halfway between the two sizes (maximum and minimum) of the harness extension.

For a dog with a chest contour of 72cm, we will select size L which has an adjustable contour between 66-91cm, as the 72cm is halfway between the 66 and 91cm offered by the harness extension.

A bad choice would be, for example, for a dog with a chest contour of 70cm to choose size M (between 51-71cm) because this measurement is very close to the maximum adjustable limit of the harness, which in this case would be 71cm. Therefore we should choose size L, whose measurements range from 66 to 91cm.

FOR A CANICROSS HARNESS, WHAT SIZE SHOULD I CHOOSE?

With these 4 simple measurements we will be able to make the perfect harness for your dog

The harnesses for canicross or mushing are available in three sizes:

S – LENGTH OF DOG’S BACK: 48-58cm

M – LENGTH OF DOG’S BACK: 59-71cm

L – LENGTH OF DOG’S BACK: 72-84cm

The measurement that determines the size of the harness is the length of the back, from the base of its neck (where it crosses its collarbone and above its front legs) to just the point where its tail begins. Specifically measurement 1 in the picture.

Please take this measurement for your dog, select the harness size and finish your order. Then take the 3 remaining measurements following the instructions below the image and send them to orders@adora.barcelona indicating the order number that you will find in the order confirmation email.

2

The total contour of his head and of course above the ears, so that the harness can pass well.

3

The contour or total diameter of the chest, at the widest point (just behind the front legs).

4

The lateral measurement goes from the withers or base of the neck (where it intersects with its collarbone and above its front legs), to approximately the middle of its last rib.

TO PLACE A MARTINGALE

In this video you will see how easy it is to place a Martingale collar.

Martingale collars are designed for dog breeds such as the greyhound, or any sighthound, whose head diameter, at its widest part (where the ears are located), is equal to the diameter of the neck.

The Martingale system adjusts to the animal’s neck in case the animal pulls too hard, or simply tries to remove it.

These collars, despite being specific for certain breeds, are highly recommended for the rest because being wider than the classic buckle collar, they do not damage the dog’s neck when pulling, besides being very comfortable and easy to put on and take off. Besides, their width makes them stand out more on the dog as they are more visible and if you have a leash to match the collar, you will show off a fashionable dog!

HOW TO FIT A HARNESS

In this video you will see how easy it is to put on and adjust an ADORA harness

Fitting an ADORA anti-pull harness is very simple; the front sternal anchor should be just above and centered on your sternum.

This type of harness is designed for all types of breeds for its comfort and versatility, but it is especially recommended if our friend is one of those, warriors, who tend to pull the leash during walks.

To fit the anti-pull harness, it is important to first loosen all its pins so that we can place it over the dog’s back and across his head without any problem, then simply adjust the pins to the dog.

Our adorable friend must be able to walk and run comfortably!

TIPS AND CARE

Keep your ADORA accessories looking like new for a longer time

All ADORA products are hand or machine washable with water at a maximum temperature of 30º and neutral soap.

· Wash collars and leashes by hand with a damp cloth and neutral soap.

· You can also machine wash them, in this case we recommend to put them in a protective bag. This is the case of collars and leashes that contain metal parts and could be damaged and/or damage the drum of your washing machine.

· Machine or hand wash coats at 30° with neutral soap or mild detergent. Do not tumble dry. If desired, always iron inside out.
