Welcome to ADORA’s DOG FRIENDLY Blog!
In this blog, we’ll talk about all the subjects that we, the lovers of our adorable 4 legged companions, are interested in.
We invite you to learn some curiosities and tips to get rid of the taboo of travelling or doing things with our doggy friends. Let’s go!
Now that summer is approaching, and for those of you who are already planning the holidays, we recommend taking your faithful companion with you, because they too deserve holidays!
EUROPE IS THE INDISPUTABLE LEADER WHEN IT COMES TO TRAVELING WITH YOUR PET. THE MOST DOG FRIENDLY CAPITAL IN OUR CONTINENT IS… BERLIN
…But, how DOG FRIENDLY are we in Spain?
In the global ranking, we are at rank 16, and our friendliest cities for dogs are Zaragoza, Valencia, Madrid, Sevilla, Gijón, Oviedo and Barcelona, which already lets you take the subway with your dog.
The good news is that more and more cities are getting on board, luckily for us, the Doglovers!
Even then, every time we want to leave for a couple days of rest, our predisposition to take our best friend/s is met with a lack of accommodations, or a lack of open spaces for our furry friends, like beaches, restaurants, cafés, museums, shops or even parks where they can run as much as they want…
The statistics don’t lie, more than 30% of us who travel with a pet will choose places where there’s more accommodation offers for our dogs; and for that, we already have services like Booking, which have their own specific filter “Dog friendly”.
For the numerous canine families, as is our case, we have platforms like Travelguau, where we can find information of all accommodations that accept between 1 and 5 dogs in all of Spain… I bet you didn’t know that!
But a good “Dog friendly” city doesn’t only need a good amount of accommodations, but also “off-leash” parks where we can let our companions free to run at will, or places where we can enjoy a great coffee with our best friend, restaurants, or pubs where they can even serve food or water for our pets.
GIJÓN, A GREAT EXAMPLE
Today we’ll focus on Gijón, a friendly dog city, with a great amount of different establishments, open air activities, restaurants and parks with “off-leash” zones and even their own hashtag #Gijonyesmican to share your trip pics on Instagram.
They have their own pet event; Espacio Mascotas: it’s an annual event that takes place in the ferial enclosure Luís Adaro every October, with different activities, including a national Agility championship, exhibitions and dog training stalls, chats about interesting and necessary subjects like first aid for pets, and even adoption passes.
Us pet lovers shouldn’t miss out on it!
To conclude, we’ll add a couple premises of the many in Gijón to invite you to visit with your adorable four legged friends, and a link where you can expand this information!
